It was recently announced that John Wilber, the superintendent of the school district, was going to resign his position on June 30. Mario DePaoli's contract for hauling city garbage was approved by the city council Tuesday night with the help of City Attorney J. R. Scott. October 3 marked the start of a 10-year contract. Until now, DiPaoli has been the only company responsible for collecting city garbage.

Land lying north of the Stanislaus River, south of Manteca, against flood waters look exceedingly bright, according to a report made by E. C. Woodruff and Guss Schmiedt at a meeting of the directors of the local chamber of commerce Tuesday night. In a previous meeting, President Powers appointed E.C. Woodruff, W.J. Woodward and E.E. Douglass to assist in any way he can.
A swift outbreak of influenza has prompted drastic action by the city trustees to stamp out the virus. An ordinance created by City Attorney J. R. Scott was passed to an adjourned meeting Tuesday night after a meeting Monday night. Church meetings, lodges, pool rooms, and all public gatherings are prohibited until the city health board and city physicians approve them.
